Our site manager, architect Federica Legnani, flew to New Delhi to participate in the World Heritage Properties Managers’ Forum.
This year’s meeting will take place from 18 to 25 July and is entitled: Heritage and communities: inclusive and effective approaches for the sustainable management of World Heritage sites.
On the afternoon of 19 July, Bologna will also be the focus of the panel discussion ‘Site Managers share their experience with the Reactive Monitoring process’, where Federica Legnani will present and discuss the Periodic Reporting document produced by the Office last year. It is a kind of status report of the World Heritage Property, highlighting factors of progress and criticality and, above all, monitoring the application of the World Heritage Convention in its territory. As it has to be renewed about every eight years, and since we were not on the World Heritage List eight years ago, it was a first for the Porticoes.
Federica has been chosen to represent the entire Europe and North America region (the other regions are Asia and the Pacific, Africa, Central and South America and the Arab countries), which is very important because of the prominence given to Bologna. It is therefore a useful opportunity to promote the city of Bologna while sharing the experiences of other World Heritage Properties.
