Porticoes ToUr-NESCO!

The Tour de France passed through Italy this year, and in particular through Bologna. This extraordinary event is due to the victory of an Italian cyclist, Ottavio Bottecchia, in the Tour exactly 100 years ago.

The teams set off from Cesenatico, Marco Pantani’s home town, and arrived in Bologna on the afternoon of Sunday 30 June. The highlight of this leg of the tour was certainly the climb to San Luca, which put a great strain on the muscles of even the best-trained riders.

The porticoes of the sixth component of the property in the World Heritage List, which includes San Luca, provided a stunning backdrop for an event broadcast around the world.
