The Archive preserves documents produced and received by the Municipality as part of its institutional activity, as well as aggregate archives from other sources.
The opening to the public in 1998 of the current headquarters in Via Tartini, 1 has made available to researchers, scholars, local history enthusiasts and also to a non-specialist public, a vast documentary heritage of inestimable value and importance for the history of Bologna.
