Libreria Antiquaria Galliera was opened in 1937 by Arnaldo Forni and his wife Odila. Located inside Palazzo Argelati, it trades in antique and second-hand books. During the post-war period, Forni also managed a highly successful lending library and transferred part of his book trade to Via Castel Tialto. In 1960, he also became a publisher, very quickly specialising in the anastatic reprints of rare books. It was the beginning of a frenzied business that led him to become Italy’s leader of anastatic editions with a catalogue of over 3,000 titles. Following Arnaldo’s death in 1983, the bookshop remained the property of the Forni family until 2005. The current management continues the antique bookshop tradition. The original furnishings are still inside.
