Porticoes at the European Mobility Week

Porticoes will be the protagonist of three events at the European Mobility Week scheduled in Bologna from 16th to 22nd September. Saturday 21st will be the "Walking under the porticoes" day. The first event will be at 4.45 pm at the Mobility Village set up in Piazza Maggiore with a talk about "Porticoes: UNESCO nomination and another way to travel". Councilor Valentina Orioli will present the nomination of the porticoes and Norwegian tourist Geir Tore Aamdal will tell about his exemplary tourist experience: walking under every single portico of Bologna with his daughter. At 5.45 pm, departing from Piazza Maggiore, we will take a walk along the porticoes with the consultants of Links Foundation, who will tell their story and explain the reason for choosing five of the twelve UNESCO nominated components. Finally, at 8.00 pm, in the Cortile Guido Fanti in Palazzo d’Accursio, Francesco Ceccarelli, Professor of Architectural history at the University of Bologna, will deliver the architectural history of the porticoes and highlight their outstanding universal value.
