Shift2Zero has officially launched, an initiative funded by the Horizon Europe program aimed at revolutionizing urban logistics through the development of mission-specific, zero-emission electric light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs).
The project involves four pilot tests and one major pilot across various European cities to validate new sustainable transport solutions. Bologna plays a key role due to the collaboration between the Municipality, ITL (Institute for Transport and Logistics) and Gruber Logistics. The city will serve as a testing ground for an innovative logistics model based on transshipment hubs located at the edges of the urban center, facilitating the transfer of goods from electric heavy-duty vehicles (e-HDVs) to electric vans optimized for last-mile delivery. The test will use refrigerated e-LCVs for the delivery of food products, wine and e-commerce goods, focusing on modular solutions to optimize loading and unloading.
With Shift2Zero, Bologna confirms its position among the most committed European cities in the transition to zero-emission freight transport, experimenting with cutting-edge technologies and operational models.
Through Shift2Zero, Bologna reinforces its commitment to the transition toward zero-emission freight transport, building on the experience of the URBANE project and testing innovative technologies and operational models.
