SPINE - Smart Public transport Initiatives for climate-Neutral cities in Europe

SPINE project's main objective is to accelerate the process towards climate neutrality by incentivising and making the use of public transport more attractive, as well as increasing its integration with shared and active mobility services. Through the contribution of technology and innovation, this can be translated into the use of cutting-edge solutions, but totally usable and accessible by citizens, such as dedicated apps, interactive panels, travel planners, audio and braille messages, in order to reach a wider range of users and improve the experience of all of them. The solutions will be validated with a digital simulation system that can foresee their impact and then will be tested in the leading pilot cities during the project development period. Subsequently, the follower cities will replicate the experiences most suited to their context.

Companies and operators specialized in transport services (including locally SRM and, internationally, the French company Instant System), cooperatives, research centers and universities are also participating in the consortium, for a total of 39 partners from all over Europe.

Through the SPINE project, the Municipality of Bologna, with the collaboration of SRM, intends to implement the actions envisaged in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), in the Sustainable Urban Logistics Plan  (SULP) and in the General Urban Traffic Plan (GUTP) valuing the role of the city in implementing the objectives of the Mission 100 climate-neutral cities by 2030.
