IAEC - International Association of Educating Cities
Founded in Bologna in 1994, as a development of the "Educating Cities" movement started in Barcelona back in 1990, the International Association of Educating Cities (IAEC) is a non-profit Association, set up as a permanent collaborative structure between local governments committed to the Charter of Educating Cities, i.e. the road map the member cities adopted with the aim to create a common methodology as regards Education and Lifelong learning activities.
At the beginning of 2020, the Association counted for over 500 member cities in 36 world countries.
The Education Department of the City of Bologna follows the network’s activities constantly, with the aim to exchange experiences and skills and share projects with other European cities.
In occasion of the International Day of the Educating City, being celebrated on the 30th November every year, the Municipality of Bologna promotes a number of initiatives on the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Educating Cities for children and young adults, within the city project "Bologna Città Educativa delle Bambine e dei Bambini".
