From January 21
to 23, Bologna participated in the study visit to Bruges as part of the CIVITAS Replication and Deployment Programme, a European initiative aimed at promoting
the exchange of experiences on innovative solutions for sustainable mobility.
The city of Bologna has been selected as a Champion City with the goal of
collaborating with Bruges and Hamburg on topics related to sustainable urban
logistics.
The programme
will involve a total of 36 cities over two cycles, aiming to support host
cities (Challenge Cities) in overcoming specific urban mobility challenges
through knowledge transfer activities and the sharing of best practices already
implemented by the so-called "Champion Cities."
Luca Bellinato, Head of the Mobility Systems Unit within the Sustainable Mobility and Infrastructure Department of the Municipality of Bologna, took part in the study visit. He had the opportunity to share Bologna's experience with the Sustainable Urban Logistics Plan (PULS), as well as insights on proximity logistics hubs and zero-emission last-mile deliveries tested within the URBANE project, which is also part of the CIVITAS initiative. During the event, representatives from participating cities engaged in co-creation workshops and field visits, exploring solutions adopted by Bologna and other Champion Cities to enhance the sustainability of urban logistics.
The URBANE project has thus enabled Bologna to further strengthen collaboration with other cities, representing an important opportunity to develop innovative and practical solutions aimed at making urban logistics increasingly sustainable and efficient.
