Shift2Zero, the project funded by
CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency,
has officially begun. The initiative aims to develop innovative solutions for
zero-emission electric light commercial vehicles (e-LCVs), designed to meet the
specific needs of the logistics sector.
During the kick-off meeting,
innovations for each vehicle and project phase were outlined to ensure
effective integration and the initiative's success. At the same time,
stakeholder mapping began-targeting logistics service providers, local and
regional authorities, researchers, and end-users-to better define their needs.
In parallel, the process of defining pilot tests in partner cities was also
launched.
The Bologna pilot project builds on the experience gained from the URBANE project and will test e-LCV prototypes in real-world conditions, with Gruber Logistics involved in trialing innovative vehicles for refrigerated goods transport. The goal is to develop a new logistics model based on a transshipment hub near the city center, improving public space usage through geofencing, as well as interchangeable modules tailored to the specific requirements of each delivery.
To support the pilot, the Municipality of Bologna received funding of €85,750, contributing to the goals of the 2030 Agenda and the mission of achieving "100 climate-neutral cities by 2030."
Shift2Zero marks an important step towards more sustainable and innovative logistics, with the ambition to reduce the environmental impact of the sector and promote a zero-emission future.
