During the national event "#MISSIONITALIA Horizon Europe – National Info Days on EU Missions 2024," held in streaming on May 7-8, the Sustainable Mobility and Infrastructure Sector was invited to present the SPINE project (Smart Public transport Initiatives for climate Neutral cities in Europe), thus bringing the voice of the city of Bologna to the centre of national attention. The event was organised by APRE, the national contact point of the European funding programme Horizon Europe.
The project seamlessly integrates with the Mission "100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030," supported by the Horizon Europe programme and aimed at promoting the climate and technology transition of 100 European cities by 2030. The presentation gave a detailed overview of SPINE and of the key role of Bologna's planned actions in supporting the Climate Mission. It also highlighted the importance of partnerships and collaboration with other initiatives and policies already underway, including the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the Climate Contract, emphasising how synergy is essential to maximize impact and accelerate the transition to neutrality.
SPINE's success story in Bologna fits into the broad strategic framework that sees the European Commission committed with new calls to invest significant resources to support the five Horizon Europe Missions.
